Talking Pictures

Talking Pictures is the first major art collaboration between my husband and I, and for the most part, I get most of the credit. This is because I have a history of producing art, and he does not. He is the conceptual part of the duo, and sometimes, I am merely the technician.  In this instance, he got stoned one night, and these are the result. The beauty was that no one had ever used these easy to acquire recording frames for art before, and the fact that they are commercial objects, not too expensive, and not hard to use. It was my job to take the pictures, figure out how to make them presentable and as archival as possible, for the fine art world. The first one was a huge hit (The nun) and later, the multiples were even better, with the sound of the recordings running over each other in a "Row, Row, Your Boat" cacophony. All these were made before cell phones, so I do not have any video yet, but will eventually.  The four Nixon's saying "Well, Well, I'm Not a Crook" is responsible for my winning a $5,000 fellowship from the Nevada Arts Council.
